Design Engineer – Automated Assembly Systems
We are seeking experienced Design Engineers to support the delivery of new automated assembly system projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex mechanical design challenges, working independently, and contributing to fast-paced engineering projects with high technical standards.
Our Design Engineers play a key role in developing custom automation equipment from concept through detailed design, working closely with Project Engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design complex mechanical systems and custom automated assembly equipment using SolidWorks and Windchill.
- Independently apply sound engineering principles and creative problem-solving to overcome technical design challenges.
- Adapt and modify established design methods to suit non-routine or complex applications.
- Take ownership of assigned equipment designs from initial layout through detailed component development and release.
- Participate in formal design reviews with Project Engineers, incorporating feedback and refining designs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs meet requirements for accuracy, manufacturability, safety, and overall project objectives.
- Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and systems integration teams to support successful project execution.
- Deliver technically rigorous design work while remaining focused on engineering execution rather than project management responsibilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- 6+ years of experience designing automated assembly systems or custom automation equipment.
- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks is required; experience with Windchill is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, automation systems, component selection, and system-level machine design.
- Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Capable of producing accurate, complete mechanical designs while working to demanding schedules.
- Comfortable receiving ongoing design feedback and adapting designs as project needs evolve.
Work Environment & Expectations
This is a highly technical, design-focused position suited to engineers who enjoy hands-on mechanical design and problem-solving.
- Typical workload is 50+ hours per week.
- Flexible start times between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
- The role is heavily focused on design execution and technical contribution, without project leadership or management responsibilities.
