May 12th – 15th saw the biggest Automate Show yet, held in Detroit, Michigan. Talos Automation consultants attended in force, and along with catching up with current clients, making new connections and checking out the latest in automation technology, they even found time to cheer on the Detroit Tigers! We caught up with David James, Phil Allen and Jake Harris to hear the highlights.
David James, Operations Director
“The whole Automate trip was a huge success, and we had the chance to meet current and new clients in Detroit and Windsor, Canada. A personal highlight for me was being able to actually meet our clients face to face in their offices, and gain a better appreciation of their business and culture. This is a great way for Talos to improve our understanding of the needs of the client so we can support them closer with future business. You really can’t underestimate the power of a face-to-face meeting!
The chance to see the Detroit Tigers play on the Wednesday night was also a massive highlight, with another win for the Tigers!”
Phil Allen, Senior Automation Consultant
“The trip to Detroit as a whole was a great experience and being able to get a feel for the city, people and culture was brilliant. Automate was so eye-opening, the event was huge! Being able to meet some of my clients whilst I was there topped it all off and allowed me to picture their businesses better, which will make a real difference when I’m representing them to candidates!
I would say on a personal level, the highlight of my trip was the baseball. I loved walking into Comerica Park; the whole experience was amazing! Also, being with the Talos guys for the week gave us the chance to bond as a team and brought us all closer together.”

Jake Harris, Senior Automation Consultant
“The Automate trip was a truly incredible experience and great success, catching up with our existing customers, visiting their engineering plants and talking to new clients. In-between client meetings we managed to get down to Comercia Park to watch the Detroit Tigers vs Boston Red Sox, an experience that I will never forget. We also endured an incredible storm on Friday morning, which involved multiple tornados touching down in Michigan. Luckily, none of us were affected (especially Phil, who slept through the whole thing)!”
